My favourite summer squash variety! Custard Squash is perfect for your summer garden! This patty-pan type squash boasts a bright yellow color and a delicious flavor. Its flesh is firmer than some other summer squash varieties, making it perfect for grilling or sautéing. Plus, the small seed cavity means more delicious squash for you to enjoy. Add these seeds to your garden and enjoy a bountiful harvest of delicious, nutritious squash all summer long. Packet contains ~15 seeds.

Squash - Custard Squash Seeds

  • Squash seeds can be started indoors no more than 3-4 weeks earlier than your last frost date. Squash plants do not like to become root bound and will suffer from transplanting stress if plants are too large. Seeds can also be direct-sown, even in shorter growing seasons.

Bury seeds 1-2 inches (2.5-5 cm) deep and cover with soil. Keep moist until germination in ~5-10 days. May take longer with cooler soil temperatures.

Space plants 2-3 feet (60-90 cm) apart for bush varieties and or 4-5 feet (120-150 cm) apart for vining varieties.

  • Cucurbita pepo

Also known as patty pan squash, scallop squash, granny squash
