  • Start fireweed seeds indoors 8-10 weeks prior to your last frost date. Can also direct-seed in early spring or late fall.

Cold stratification will improve germination. As seeds are very tiny, it will be easiest to mix seeds with a small amount of moist sand or growing medium. Place in a plastic bag or container in the fridge for 3-4 weeks before sowing.

Press seeds onto soil and do not cover. Keep moist until germination in ~10-20 days.

Transplant after last frost date with plants spaced 18-24 inches (45-60 cm) apart.

  • Chamaenerion angustifolium

    Also known as willowherb.
