Sow seeds approximately 1/2 inch (12 mm) deep and cover lightly, keeping the soil moist until germination, which typically occurs within 7-10 days.

Once seedlings are established, transplant them into a sunny location about 2 weeks before the last frost date. Space plants 6 inches (15 cm) apart for smaller varieties and 12 inches (30 cm) apart for larger types to allow ample room for growth.
