  • Blazing Star can be started indoors 8-10 weeks before your last frost date and can also be direct-seeded in the fall.

Seeds should be cold stratified to improve germination. Place seeds in a moist paper towel inside a plastic bag or container. Keep in the fridge for 2-3 weeks prior to seeding. Cold stratification is not required for seeds planted in the fall.

Press seeds into soil and cover lightly, light aids in germination. Keep moist until germination in ~45 days (may be longer with cooler temperatures). Germination is erratic.

Transplant after your last frost date into a full sun location, with plants 24 inches (60 cm) apart.

  • Liatris spicata

    Also known as Gayfeather
