  • For best results, start New Zealand Spinach seeds indoors 4–6 weeks before your last frost date, or direct-seed outdoors once the risk of frost has passed and soil has warmed.

Soak seeds in warm water for 12–24 hours before sowing to improve germination. Sow seeds ½ inch (1 cm) deep and keep soil consistently moist. Germination typically occurs in 7–14 days, though it is typically erractic and cooler temperatures may slow sprouting.

After the last frost, transplant or thin seedlings to a sunny location, spacing plants 12–18 inches (30–45 cm) apart. Harvest young leaves regularly to encourage continuous growth throughout the summer.
