  • Start dianthus seeds indoors 8-10 weeks before your last frost date. To improve germination, perform cold stratification by placing seeds in a moist paper towel inside a plastic bag or container, and refrigerate them for 2-3 weeks before sowing.

    Press seeds into the soil and cover lightly, keeping the soil consistently moist until germination, which typically occurs in about 10 days. After the risk of frost has passed, transplant seedlings outdoors in a sunny location, spacing plants 6-12 inches (15-30 cm) apart for optimal growth.
