Heliopsis - Burning Hearts Seeds
For best results, start heliopsis seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before your last frost date, or direct-seed outdoors in spring once the soil has warmed. Fall sowing is also effective for natural cold stratification.
Sow seeds on the soil surface and lightly press them in, covering very lightly as they need light to germinate. Keep soil consistently moist until germination, which typically occurs in 14–21 days. Cooler temperatures may slow sprouting.
After the risk of frost has passed, transplant seedlings to a sunny location, spacing plants 18–24 inches (45–60 cm) apart. Heliopsis prefers full sun and average, well-drained soil, and once established, it is drought tolerant and low maintenance.
