For best results, direct-seed Double Champagne Hollyhocks in early spring or late fall. Alternatively, start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before your last frost date.
Soak seeds overnight before sowing to enhance germination. Press seeds lightly into the soil and cover, keeping the soil consistently moist until germination occurs, usually in 14-21 days.
After the last frost, transplant seedlings to a sunny spot in your garden, spacing plants 2-3 feet (60-90 cm) apart. While support can help, it’s not required for these compact hollyhocks.
