Start Nicotiana seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before your last frost date. Press seeds lightly into the soil without covering, as they require light to germinate. Keep the soil consistently moist until germination, which typically occurs in 10-14 days, though it may take longer in cooler temperatures.
Once the last frost has passed, transplant seedlings to a sunny outdoor location, spacing plants 18-24 inches (45-60 cm) apart.
